This one is wonderful! I love the way you conveyed your thoughts; they are very similar to mine. I also really enjoyed the poem, especially the way it rhymes at the end of each stanza. You've put it all together and explained your point in such a thoughtful way. I appreciate it. I guess that's what writing helps us do—become human. By writing, we are able to express ourselves and clear up our minds. We are exposed to so much daily that our thoughts often go awry. It is important to not be ignorant, know what's right, and also stay hopeful.
Also, I think poetry makes everything so much better. Like Voltaire said, “Poetry is the music of the soul and, above all, of great and feeling souls.” Sometimes putting your opinions out there is scary; poetry just lightens the burden and gives readers the benefit of doubt.
And I really found the part about the ''black pill'' mentality interesting.
"I write to the human being that is me, with my loves, my fears, my laughs, my angers, my griefs; all of it. Because I know first-hand that the experience of me feeling those things is real. If I can find value in speaking to that within me, then I know someone somewhere will also find value in it too."
Dear Tom, you are a wonderful writer and your thoughts align with mine. Villains will continue to as in history. It's "the world." If we are to believe in Evil then we are to believe in Goodness. Goodness grows and rises constantly in quiet places. In the end I know there is a Sovereign God. My trust is in that. In that kind of Love. Here, I have found so much hope and kindness. I write for all the same reasons as you. Through it I have been gifted with friendship from like-minded souls, all surprisingly diverse in nature and beliefs. When we practice the kind of goodness and love that is not of this world, it is the medicine for this world.
btw, I absolutely loved listening to you speak this piece.
These poetic reasons you offer are beyond reasons.
You aim up.
I gratefully remember the future in which I appreciate the heights you will reach. I hear echoes of timeless lines of poetry. But the vibrations mostly resonate between the lines, between the words.
Words of written language are secondary to the being of the poem. Future words only decorate the human relation that already exists.
The being of human relation exists before the human individuals exist. Maybe it's a little less strange to say it like this: Being friendly comes first, then friends.
OK, here's a tougher one, yet I love that this is true: We often get this backwards, but backwards it makes no sense. We often say consciousness emerges from matter. Doesn't it actually make more sense that matter emerges from consciousness?
Experiment in metaphor:
Watch the shadows of little vortexes that drift across a calm swimming pool after you drag a dinner plate through the water.
Each vortex, like each proton, is made of water. It is water. Also, the context of the vortex is water, like consciousness, the context out of which matter emerges.
I know...
My George (W.) wrote a mean nasty letter to your George (III). In effect it said, "Neener neener, you ain't our king no more. We're all kings now. So there."
I know that happened, but I still love you, and all your Brit cousinage too.
This gave me so much more to think about than I was expecting on this Saturday! Even when you present a perspective I don't understand completely at first, I welcome it since I get the feeling you really want your reader to get really introspective.

I certainly write to clear up my mind, for sure. Thank you for your insights Ayesha and glad you enjoyed the piece!!

What am I writing for, doing for being for?

These poetic reasons you offer are beyond reasons.
You aim up.

I trust you can hear the love in my teasing:
Aim higher, Tom. Go ahead, aim higher.

That's the most I could ever ask for! Glad that this piece has been a catalyst for that introspection!
